Maruti Swift launches on May 9: All things to know
The much-anticipated 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is set to make its Indian debut, following successful launches in Europe as well as other regions. Dealerships across India have started accepting pre-launch bookings for the new model, with a starting deposit of ₹11,000. The official pricing details are yet to be disclosed, but industry insiders estimate the cost to be between ₹6.50-9.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
Maruti Suzuki's senior executive shares excitement
Maruti Suzuki's Senior Executive Officer for Marketing & Sales, Partho Banerjee, expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming launch. He stated, "The Swift has been an iconic brand for Maruti Suzuki, one that has evolved with changing times to redefine customer expectations." Banerjee further highlighted that the new Swift maintains its sporty DNA, while meeting new-age environmental expectations with low emissions.
Trim levels and color options
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will continue to offer its popular trim levels, including LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. Prospective buyers can select from a variety of exterior color options, such as blue, red, white, silver, black, and orange. The latest model has grown slightly in size, with an extra 15mm in length and 30mm in height.
Exterior enhancements and interior comforts
The 2024 Swift features exterior enhancements including a tweaked grille, redesigned bumpers, sleek LED DRLs, updated taillights, and striking 16-inch alloy wheels. The cabin comfort is set to improve with the new model. It is expected to feature a state-of-the-art 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, in select variants. Safety features include six airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Engine specifications and transmission options
Under the hood, the new Swift will be powered by a 1.2-liter, Z series, 3-cylinder petrol engine, delivering an estimated 83hp of power and 112Nm of torque. The Indian variant will provide both manual and AMT gearbox options. With these enhancements, the next-generation Swift aims to take on rivals such as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
