JLR updates Defender SUV with more luxury, new powertrains
JLR, formerly known as Jaguar Land Rover, has announced a series of upgrades to its Land Rover Defender range. The improvements include new powertrain options, seating configurations, and the launch of a new Sedona Edition based on the Defender 110 variant. The powertrain enhancements feature more powerful petrol and diesel engines, as well as an innovative plug-in hybrid variant.
New powertrain options for Land Rover Defender
The current 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder D300 diesel powertrain is being replaced by a more powerful D350 unit. This new engine offers 345hp and 700Nm, a significant upgrade from the D300's 296hp and 650Nm. The P400 petrol and the P400e plug-in hybrid are also being phased out, substituted by the new P425 and P300e powertrains. The P425 is a derivative of the previous 5.0-liter V8, while the P300e uses a smaller 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine combined with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Seating and interior upgrades for Land Rover Defender
The Defender 130 model now offers customers the option to choose captain seats in the second row. This feature is available on both the Defender X and Defender V8 models. Additionally, a new Signature Interior pack has been introduced, which includes 14-way adjustable powered front seats along with heated and ventilated second-row captain seats. According to Land Rover, this pack will be standard on the X and V8 models and optional on the X-Dynamic HSE trim.
All about the Sedona Edition Defender
The Defender 110 has been updated with a new Sedona Edition based on the Defender X-Dynamic HSE. This limited edition model, available only for one year, features a Sedona Red exterior paired with an extended black package and 22-inch alloy wheels. The interior of this special edition is furnished with ebony Windsor leather. Land Rover has also streamlined the Defender range, offering three body styles - 90, 110, and 130, in S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X, and V8 variants.
