Indian Motorcycles reveals 2022 Chief line-up to celebrate 100th anniversary
Celebrating 100 years of the iconic Chief model, Indian Motorcycles has unveiled three new models, namely, Chief Dark Horse, Chief Bobber Dark Horse, and Super Chief Limited. The line-up starts at $16,999 (roughly Rs. 12.38 lakh). As for the highlights, the bikes have a retro look, pack the company's Ride Command system, and draw power from a 1,890cc Thunderstroke 116 engine. Here's our roundup.
2022 Indian Chief line-up: At a glance
The Dark Horse, Bobber Dark Horse, and Super Chief Limited have a steel-tube frame, an all-LED lighting setup, key-less ignition, and Pirelli Night Dragon tires. The Dark Horse sports drag handlebars, a solo bobber seat, and 19-inch alloy wheels while the Bobber Dark Horse model gets blacked-out bits. The Super Chief comes with a quick-release windscreen, a two-up touring seat, and leather saddlebags.
Power and performance
The Dark Horse, Bobber Dark Horse, and Super Chief Limited draw power from a Euro 5-compliant 1,890cc Thunderstroke 116 engine linked to a 6-speed gearbox. The mill generates 162Nm of peak torque. The power figures are unknown as of now.
Safety and suspension setup
To ensure the safety of the rider, the 2022 Indian Chief line-up is equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with ABS, throttle-by-wire, and cruise control for improved handling on the roads. Suspension duties on the motorcycles are taken care of by telescopic forks on the front side and a mono-shock unit on the rear end.
What about the pricing?
In the US, the Indian Chief Dark Horse carries a price-tag of $16,999 (roughly Rs. 12.38 lakh) while the Bobber Dark Horse is priced at $18,999 (approximately Rs. 13.83 lakh). The Super Chief and Super Chief Limited are priced at $18,499 (roughly Rs. 13.47 lakh) and $20,999 (approximately Rs. 15.29 lakh), respectively. These bikes are expected to be launched in India next year.
