Ahead of launch, 2022 BMW X4 teased in India
German automaker BMW is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its X4 SUV in India sometime in March. In the latest development, the company has released a teaser image of the car. The 2022 X4 made its global debut earlier last year. The company has also announced that pre-booking for the luxury SUV begins today.
Why does this story matter?
The new X4 will be the second facelifted car from BMW to debut in India this year after the X3. As the latter is manufactured locally, we expect the former to follow the same lines. With a refreshed design and new features, it will heat up the competition in the market. It will be pitted against the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.
The SUV sports a large kidney grille
The 2022 BMW X4 has a muscular bonnet, a sloping roofline, a large kidney grille, a refreshed front bumper, and sleek LED headlights with Matrix function. On the sides, it sports blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, sharp body lines, and 21-inch designer alloy wheels. The rear end of the SUV is graced by LED taillamps and a rear bumper with gloss black inserts.
Multiple engine choices could be offered
The India-specific 2022 BMW X4 may be powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine that churns out 254hp/250Nm and a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder diesel motor that makes 282hp/650Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox.
It has three-zone climate control
The 2022 BMW X4 features a refreshed cabin with either Vernesca or Sensatec upholstery, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It houses a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 12.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, and a Harmon Kardon sound system. For safety, it has multiple airbags, a 360-degree-view camera, and traction control.
2022 BMW X4: Pricing and availability
The official pricing and availability details of the facelifted BMW X4 will be disclosed by the company at the time of its launch. However, we expect it to carry a premium over the existing model, which starts at Rs. 67.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
