BMW X3 (diesel) debuts in India at Rs. 65.5 lakh
German automaker BMW has launched the diesel variant of its facelifted X3 SUV in India. It is up for grabs in a single trim, namely the xDrive20d Luxury Edition. The four-wheeler carries a price-tag of Rs. 65.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Design-wise, the X3 (diesel) looks identical to its petrol sibling, which was introduced in the country last month.
Why does this story matter?
Compared to the outgoing model, the 2022 BMW X3 is an upgrade when it comes to performance as well as looks. It broke cover globally last June. With the launch of the diesel version of the new-generation X3, BMW has upped the ante in the luxury SUV segment. It will take on the diesel variants of Mercedes-Benz GLC and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The SUV sports 19-inch alloy wheels
The 2022 BMW X3 (diesel) sports a muscular hood, a large chrome-finished kidney grille with vertical slats, adaptive LED headlamps, and a redesigned bumper. It is flanked by ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, roof rails, and 19-inch designer alloy wheels. The rear end of the vehicle is graced by a shark-fin antenna, a redesigned bumper, wrap-around LED taillights, and dual exhaust tips.
It draws power from a 190hp, twin-turbo diesel engine
The BMW X3 (diesel) is powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel motor that generates 190hp/400Nm. The mill is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system. The SUV can do 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 213km/h.
The car features 3-zone automatic climate control
The new BMW X3 (diesel) has a luxurious five-seater cabin featuring powered seats with memory function, 3-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with BMW Live Cockpit Professional and 3D navigation, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen console. For safety, the SUV has six airbags, a 360-degree-view camera, and an electric parking brake.
2022 BMW X3 (diesel): Pricing and availability
In India, the 2022 BMW X3 (diesel) is priced at Rs. 65.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the single xDrive20d Luxury Edition trim. In comparison, the petrol-powered 30i SportX Plus and 30i M Sport cost Rs. 59.9 lakh and Rs. 65.9 lakh, respectively.
