Is this the India-bound 2021 Volkswagen Vento?
German automaker Volkswagen has taken the covers off its much-anticipated Polo sedan for Russian markets. The new car comes with a bunch of design tweaks and feature updates over the outgoing model and looks sportier than before. As reported earlier, the India-bound 2021 Volkswagen Vento will be based on this model and could hit our shores in the second half of 2021.
How will it look like?
The India-specific 2021 Volkswagen Vento will borrow its styling cues from the Polo sedan and will be based on the Indianized version of MQB A0 platform. The car will come with an eye-catching look featuring a sleek grille, a sporty bonnet with sculpted lines, and dual exhausts. The sedan will also house angular-looking alloy wheels, blacked-out B-pillars, and an all-LED lighting setup.
Inside the cabin
Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Polo sedan, for the Russian markets, gets a spacious five-seater cabin with height-adjustable driver seat, fabric upholstery, and silver-colored accents around the AC vents and center console. The car houses a fully digital instrument console behind the three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, and a new 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
Power and performance
According to reports, the India-bound 2021 Volkswagen Vento will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The engine would churn out 113bhp of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque.
And, what about pricing?
The 2021 Volkswagen Vento is likely to hit the Indian roads sometime in the second half of 2021. There is no official word on its pricing yet, but reports suggest that it could fall under Rs. 9-13 lakh price bracket. Once launched, it will take on the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
