New-generation Mahindra XUV500 found testing, design highlights revealed

Mahindra-mahindra'>Mahindra & Mahindra is expected to launch the updated XUV500 in India in the coming months. In the latest development, the SUV has been spotted testing on the hilly terrains of Himachal Pradesh, revealing some of its design features.
As per the pictures, it will come with LED headlamps, a revised grille, new alloy wheels, roof rails, and a roof-mounted spoiler.

2021 Mahindra XUV500: At a glance
The upcoming Mahindra XUV500 will have a larger body than the outgoing model. It will feature a refreshed front bumper, a vertical slat grille, a muscular bonnet, and a narrow air vent. It will also have LED headlamps, DRLs, and LED taillights.
On the sides, the car will be flanked by roof rails, body-colored ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and redesigned alloy wheels.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will reportedly be available with two engine options: a 180hp, 2.2-liter mHawk diesel motor and a 190hp, 2.0-liter mStallion turbo-petrol unit. Transmission duties on the SUV will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

A peek inside the cabin
The 2021 XUV500 is expected to offer a spacious cabin with improved material-quality, autonomous braking, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless smartphone charging.
It will also pack a dual-screen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster with support for the latest connectivity options.
For safety, the SUV could offer multiple airbags, eyelid tracking to detect the driver's drowsiness, and a radar system to spot potholes.

The pricing and availability details of the upcoming Mahindra XUV500 will be announced at the time of launch later this year. However, it should carry a premium over the existing model which starts at Rs. 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
