India-bound 2021 Hyundai Elantra breaks cover, gets an all-new look
South Korean automaker Hyundai has unveiled the 2021 edition of its premium sedan, the Elantra, in the US. The seventh-generation model comes with a new and sportier design, feature-loaded interiors, and a petrol-hybrid powertrain. Notably, the updated sedan is likely to hit the Indian roads sometime next year. Here's our roundup.
A look at the 2021 Elantra
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra comes with an all-new look featuring a coupe-inspired sloping roof design and an attractive front fascia with a massive cascading grille as well as triangular air inlets. The car features an impressive side profile with angular-looking patterns, chrome highlights around the windows, and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Furthermore, the sedan gets all-LED fitments for headlamps, turn indicators, and taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the seventh-generation Elantra sports a luxurious and spacious five-seater cabin featuring ventilated seats, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, ambient lighting, and a new four-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The car houses dual 10.25-inch digital screens for instrument cluster, and infotainment system. It comes with support for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and BlueLink connected car technology.
Power and performance
The 2021 Elantra is available in two powertrain options: 2.0-liter petrol and a 1.6-liter GDI petrol-hybrid mated to a 32kW electric motor. The former is capable of producing 150hp of power and 192Nm of peak torque, while the latter generates 139hp and 264Nm. Apart from that, the India-specific Elantra may also get a 1.5-liter diesel engine option.
And, how much will it cost?
According to reports, the seventh-generation Elantra is likely to be launched in India sometime next year. As for the pocket-pinch, it would be priced around Rs. 16-22 lakh in the country.
