BMW 5 Series (facelift) spotted undisguised: What's new?
German automaker BMW is working to launch the facelifted version of its luxury sedan, the 5 Series, sometime later this year. Now, a test mule of the upcoming car has been spotted in Europe, revealing its design and giving us an idea about the updated looks. Meanwhile, the India-specific model of the sedan will retain the mechanical specifications of the current-generation model. Here's more.
How will it look like?
The leaked images of the new BMW 5 Series suggest that the car will come with a revamped front profile, featuring redesigned bumpers, comparatively bigger air dams and a larger kidney grille. The car will also get redesigned LED headlights with integrated fog lamps, angular-looking alloy wheels, and an attractive rear profile with dual exhausts and LED taillamps.
Inside the cabin
Not much is known about the interiors of the 2021 BMW 5 Series as of now. However, quite like the existing model, the new variant will also offer a luxurious five-seater cabin with a fully-digital instrument cluster and the latest iDrive infotainment system. Further, it will get a host of new driver-centric features like 360-degree cameras, lane-keeping assist, and reverse parking assist.
Power and performance
The new BMW 5 Series will reportedly be offered with three engine options: a 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter diesel, as well as a 2.0-liter petrol. The former two are capable of producing 190PS and 265PS of maximum power, while the latter churns out 252PS. To manage transmission duties, the car will be offered with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
And, how much will it cost?
BMW will reveal the official pricing and availability details of the new 5 Series at the time of launch, which is likely to happen later this year. However, looking at the updates, the car is expected to carry a premium of around Rs. 1-1.5 lakh over the pre-facelift model, that starts at Rs. 55 lakh in the country.
