Yamaha unveils 2020 YZF R3 motorcycle: Here's all about it
Japanese automaker Yamaha has showcased the 2020 edition of its popular sports bike, the YZF R3. The new model comes with minor design changes, while mechanically it remains unchanged. Meanwhile, two new color options -Icon Blue and Midnight Black- have also been introduced. In India, it is expected to be launched in early 2020 during the Auto Expo. Here's all about it.
2020 Yamaha YZF R3: At a glance
The 2020 Yamaha YZF R3 features a fully-faired sporty look. Up front, it comes with a transparent windshield, blacked-out mirrors, and slanting headlamps. The muscular-looking fuel tank, stepped seats, and body-colored alloy wheels add to its sporty feel. Further, the motorcycle gets a digital-analog instrument console and an all-LED lighting setup for headlamps, turn indicators, and taillamps.
Power and performance
The 2020 Yamaha YZF R3 retains the mechanical specifications of its predecessor. Hence, it is powered by a 321cc liquid-cooled, DOHC engine which is capable of producing 42PS of maximum power at 10,750rpm and 29.6Nm of peak torque at 9,000rpm. For transmission duties, the motorcycle gets a six-speed manual gearbox.

On the safety front, the 2020 Yamaha YZF R3 comes equipped with 298mm disc brakes on the front, 220mm disc brakes on the rear, and dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding while braking. The motorcycle also houses telescopic fork suspension on the front and a monoshock unit on the rear to handle the suspension duties.
Finally, what will be the pricing?
There is no official word about 2020 Yamaha YZF R3's pricing and availability as of now. However, we expect the company to launch the motorcycle during Auto Expo 2020. As for the pocket pinch, it is likely to be priced around Rs. 3-3.5 lakh in the country. Once launched, it will lock horns with rivals such as Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM 390 Duke.
