Yamaha to launch 2020 YZF R3 in India in December
Japanese automaker Yamaha is working to launch the BS6-compliant model of its popular sports bike, the YZF R3, in India. In the latest update, the company has started sharing media invites for a launch event, scheduled for December 19 where it is likely to introduce the 2020 YZF R3. Notably, the bookings for the motorcycle are also live via select dealerships across the country.
2020 Yamaha YZF R3: At a glance
The 2020 Yamaha YZF R3 features a fully-faired sporty design with a transparent windshield, blacked-out mirrors as well as exhaust, and dual-LED headlamps. The muscular-looking fuel tank, stepped seats, and body-colored alloy wheels add more to its sporty stance. Further, the motorcycle gets a digital-analog instrument console and an all-LED setup for lighting.
Power and performance
The 2020 Yamaha YZF R3 is powered by a BS6-compliant 321cc liquid-cooled, DOHC engine which is capable of producing 42PS of maximum power at 10,750rpm and 29.6Nm of peak torque at 9,000rpm. For transmission duties, the motorcycle gets a 6-speed manual gearbox.

In the safety department, the 2020 Yamaha YZF R3 comes equipped with 298mm disc brakes on the front, 220mm disc brakes on the rear, and dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding while braking. The motorcycle also houses upside-down fork suspension on the front and a monoshock unit on the rear to handle the suspension duties.
And, what about pricing?
At present, there is no word on the pricing of YZF R3 in India. However, considering the engine upgrade, it is likely to be priced more than the current model which costs Rs. 3.51 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will take on the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390, and Honda CB300R.
