India-bound 2020 Triumph Street Triple R revealed: Details here
British automaker Triumph has revealed some key details of the 2020 edition of its flagship motorcycle, the Street Triple R. The new sports tourer comes with minor cosmetic updates as well as an updated engine that complies with the Euro5 (equivalent to BS6) norms. Reportedly, the bike could arrive in India late this year and would replace the existing Street Triple S model.
A look at the 2020 Triumph Street Triple R
The Triumph Street Triple R borrows its styling cues from its elder sibling, the Street Triple RS. It sits on a twin-spar aluminum frame and features a naked street design with a muscular fuel-tank, a stepped-up seat, and blacked-out alloy wheels with body-colored accents. Apart from that, the motorcycle houses dual-LED headlights with mounted DRLs and a digital-analog instrument console.
Power and performance
Under the hood, the Triumph Street Triple R packs a Euro5/BS6-compliant 765cc engine, which is capable of producing 118hp of power at 12,000rpm and 77Nm of peak torque at 9,400rpm. To handle transmission duties, the motorcycle gets a 6-speed manual gearbox, along with a bi-directional quick-shifter. Moreover, it offers three riding modes: Road, Rain, and Sport.
What about safety and suspension setup?
In the braking department, Triumph Street Triple R comes equipped with Brembo-sourced disc brakes on both ends, along with dual-channel ABS for improved braking efficiency. Besides that, the motorcycle houses Showa's 41mm upside-down telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock unit on the rear to handle the suspension duties.
And, what about pricing?
There is no official word on the pricing and availability of Triumph Street Triple R in India as of now. However, going by the reports, the motorcycle is likely to grace our shores sometime this year itself, and would be priced around Rs. 8.5 lakh.
