2020 Skoda Superb to be launched as a petrol-only model
Skoda is gearing up to launch the 2020 edition of its popular sedan, the Superb, next year. Now, a senior Skoda executive has revealed that the company will showcase the facelifted Superb at the upcoming Auto Expo in February, adding that the car will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-liter TSI engine and will be a petrol-only model. How will it look like?
The facelifted car was recently spotted testing in India. And, going by the spy shots, it will come with a sporty look featuring LED matrix headlights with LED fog lamps and dynamic turn indicators. Besides that, the car will look largely similar to its predecessor and is likely to come with diamond-cut alloy wheels, chrome elements, and dual exhausts.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Superb facelift will come with a premium five-seater cabin with power adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, and three-zone climate control. The car is expected to house a fully-digital instrument cluster and a new 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with connected car features. Besides that, it should offer safety features like eight airbags, ABS with EBD, and several other driver-centric features.
Power and performance
The Skoda Superb will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-liter TSI engine, which is available in two states of tune, and produces 190PS and 272PS of power. The India-specific model is likely to get the former. The aforementioned unit will reportedly come mated to a 7-speed DSG (direct-shift gearbox) to handle transmission duties.
And, how much will it cost?
Going by the reports, the upcoming Skoda Superb is expected to carry a little premium over the outgoing model, which is priced at Rs. 26 lakh. Once launched, it will go up against rivals such as Toyota Camry Hybrid and Honda Accord Hybrid.
