Here's how the 2020 Skoda Octavia will look like
Czech automaker Skoda is all set to unveil the 2020 Octavia in Prague on November 11. Now, just days ahead of its global debut, the company has released the sketches of the upcoming model, giving us a fair idea of how the sedan will look like. However, details regarding the interior features and powertrain remain unknown as of now. Here's our roundup.
2020 Skoda Octavia: At a glance
Going by the sketches, the upcoming Octavia will feature a sportier and aggressive design as compared to the outgoing model. The car will retain the traditional grille but will get a bunch of updates including a revamped bumper with LED fog lamps and a longer bonnet. Also, it will come with sharp-looking single headlamps with matrix LED lighting technology.
Inside the cabin
The details regarding the interior features of 11th-generation Octavia are unknown as of now. However, we expect it to offer a premium 5-seater cabin with hi-tech features. The car is likely to sport a fully-digital instrument cluster along with a touchscreen infotainment system. As for safety features, it should come with ABS, EBD, driver and passenger airbags, as well as parking camera and sensors.
Under the hood
The company has not revealed the details about the mechanical specifications of the upcoming Octavia. But, it is likely to come with a 1.5-liter petrol, a 2.0-liter TSI, and a 2.0-liter TDI engine options. Reportedly, these engines will come mated to mild-hybrid or plug-in hybrid technologies. For transmission duties, it is expected to house a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG (automatic) units.
Finally, what about pricing and availability?
As of now, there is no word on the pricing of 2020 Skoda Octavia. However, given the current-generation model falls under Rs. 15.99-25.99 lakh price bracket in India, we expect the new model to arrive at a slightly higher price. Meanwhile, it is likely to arrive in the country sometime next year and take on the likes of Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.
