BS6-compliant Jawa and Jawa Forty Two motorcycles launched: Details here
Classic Legends-owned Jawa Motorcycles has launched the BS6-compliant versions of the Jawa and Jawa Forty Two models in India. The new cruisers retain the styling cues and power figures of their BS4 counterparts but have now become costlier by up to Rs. 10,000. Jawa and Jawa Forty Two: At a glance
Both Jawa and Jawa Forty Two models feature retro styling cues with a rounded headlamp as well as indicators, flat-type seats, spoked wheels, and dual exhausts. However, the standard Jawa motorcycle gets a more classic touch, thanks to the chrome treatment on the fuel tank and rearview mirrors whereas the Jawa Forty Two model gets a new digital-analog instrument console and matte-finished color options.
Power and performance
Both Jawa and Jawa Forty Two motorcycles are powered by a BS6-compliant 293cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder, DOHC engine which is capable of producing 27.3PS of maximum power and 28Nm of peak torque. The transmission duties on the motorcycles are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
What about safety and suspension setup?
In terms of safety, both Jawa and Jawa Forty Two motorcycles come equipped with disc brakes on both the ends (rear drum brake on the entry-level variants), along with single-channel/dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding while braking. The motorcycles house conventional telescopic forks up front and a twin-shock absorber on the rear to handle the suspension duties.
Finally, what about pricing?
As far as pocket-pinch is concerned, the single-channel ABS version of the standard Jawa is priced at Rs. 1.73 lakh, while the dual-channel ABS model starts at Rs. 1.82 lakh. Likewise, the prices of the Jawa Forty Two start at Rs. 1.60 lakh for the single-channel ABS model, and Rs. 1.69 lakh for the dual-channel ABS variant.
