Now, just days ahead of its global debut, the South Korean automaker has revealed the images of the exteriors and interiors of the car, giving us an idea of what the upcoming hatchback will offer. Here's our roundup.
How will it look like?
Going by the official renders, the 2020 Hyundai i20 will come with a more sportier and angular design as compared to the outgoing model. The car will feature a cascading grille with honeycomb patterns, a sharper side profile with chrome highlights around the windows, and a blackened roof with a mounted shark-fin antenna. Moreover, it will house diamond-cut alloy wheels and wrap-around LED taillights.
Inside the cabin
As per the official renders, the 2020 Hyundai i20 will offer a luxurious and futuristic cabin with connected AC vents, similar to what we see on the premium cars. The hatchback will also get a new four-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, a fully-digital instrument console, as well as a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment panel with support for BlueLink connected car technology.
Power and performance
The India-specific 2020 Hyundai i20 will reportedly be available with three engine options: 1.0-liter turbo-petrol, 1.2-liter petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel. The former produces 120hp of power when mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system and 99hp of maximum power without the hybrid setup. Meanwhile, the 1.2-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel units churn out 84hp and 90hp of power, respectively.
And, when will it arrive in India?
As per the reports, the 2020 Hyundai i20 is likely to hit Indian showrooms in mid-2020. There is word regarding its pricing as of now, but looking at the specifications we expect it to fall under Rs. 6-10 lakh price bracket. Once launched, it will take on the likes of Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, and Tata Altroz.
