#LeakPeek: 2020 Hyundai Elite i20 to come with a sunroof
South Korean automaker Hyundai is gearing up to launch the 2020 edition of its popular hatchback, the Elite i20, soon. In the latest update, a test mule of the upcoming model has been spotted in India, revealing its design highlights including a sunroof and a new grille. Meanwhile, a separate leak has also revealed the presence of a fully-digital instrument cluster. Here's our roundup.
How will the new i20 look like?
Going by the spy shots, 2020 Elite i20 will come with a sharper and sportier look featuring a new and bigger grille, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and alloy wheels. The upcoming model is likely to get an all-LED lighting setup, along with a rear spoiler and roof-mounted shark-fin shaped antenna. Besides that, it should offer a boot-space of around 300 liters- similar to the current-generation model.
Inside the cabin
The Elite i20 will offer a five-seater cabin with height-adjustable driver seat, a sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel. Separately, a test mule of the car was also spotted in Europe with a fully-digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system. The hatchback is likely to offer safety features like ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbags, and a reaview camera with parking sensors.
And, what about powertrain?
The 2020 Hyundai Elite i20 will reportedly be offered in three engine options: 1.0-liter petrol, 1.2-liter petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel. The petrol motors are capable of producing 120PS and 83PS of power, respectively, while the diesel mill can churn out 115PS of peak power. Notably, the car will be available with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
Finally, what will be the pocket pinch?
There is no word on the pricing of 2020 Elite i20 in India yet. However, according to reports, the upcoming model will carry a slight premium over the existing model which falls under Rs. 5.52-9.34 lakh price bracket. Once launched, the car will take on the likes of Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, and Honda Jazz.
