India-bound 2020 Honda CR-V facelifted model unveiled: Details here
Honda has pulled the covers off its premium SUV, the 2020 Honda CR-V. The facelifted model is expected to go official in US by December 2019 followed by other global markets including India. The 2020 CR-V comes with a bunch of design changes and a new hybrid motor, while retaining the interiors of the current model. Here's our roundup.
2020 Honda CR-V facelift: At a glance
The CR-V facelift features a premium sporty design with a hexagonal cascading grille, indicator-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out wheel arches, dual exhausts, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The chrome-finished roof rails and chrome work around the windows as well as tailgate add to its premium styling. Further, the SUV houses an all-LED lighting setup for headlamps, DRLs, fog lights, and taillamps.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the facelifted CR-V comes with leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The SUV sports a digital instrument console and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also offers features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and a rear view camera.
The Honda CR-V facelift gets a hybrid powertrain
The global variant of the 2020 CR-V packs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors. This combined unit produces 212PS of power. There is also a 1.5-liter turbocharged mill which churns out 190PS of power and 242Nm of peak torque.
India-bound CR-V facelift unlikely to offer hybrid powertrain
Notably, the India-bound CR-V is unlikely to get the hybrid engine option. However, it is expected that the company would launch the facelifted model with the BS6-compliant variants of the existing engines. Presently, the Indian variant of the Honda CR-V is offered with 1.6-liter diesel and 2.0-liter petrol engine options. The diesel unit churns out 120PS of power while the petrol unit makes 154PS.
Here's a look at the safety features
The 2020 Honda CR-V comes equipped with disc brakes on all wheels along with ABS and EBD for better road handling. The car offers upto six airbags, engine immobilizer for anti-theft provisions, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Moreover, it gets a bunch of driver assist features including blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and lane-departure warning as standard.
Finally, what will be the pricing?
In India, the current model of the Honda CR-V falls under Rs. 28-33 lakh price bracket. Hence, we expect the facelifted variant to arrive at a slightly higher price. Once launched, it will lock horns with rivals like Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and Ford Endeavour.
