2020 Honda Civic breaks cover, gets design and feature updates
Japanese automaker Honda has revealed the 2020 edition of its popular sedan, the Civic, for European markets. The facelifted model comes with several design and feature updates while retaining the mechanical specifications of the outgoing variant. Notably, the car will be available in international markets starting next year. Here's our roundup.
First, a look at the 2020 Honda Civic
The facelifted Civic features a sportier and more aggressive look than the outgoing model. The car gets styling tweaks in the form of an updated blacked-out grille and angular-looking bumpers. The car also houses 16-inch (17-inch on higher-spec models) diamond-cut alloy wheels, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and body-colored rear spoiler. For lighting, the sedan offers full-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, indicators, and taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the 2020 Civic features a five-seater blacked-out cabin with chrome accents around the three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof. The car also gets a fully-digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Besides that, it offers safety features like ABS with EBD, six airbags, and rearview camera with parking sensors.
Power and performance
Internationally, the Honda Civic is available in three engine options: a 1.0-liter petrol, a 1.5-liter petrol, and a 1.6-liter diesel. The former two are capable of producing 124bhp and 180bhp of maximum power, respectively. The 1.6-liter diesel mill, on the other hand, churns out 118bhp. For transmission duties, the car offers a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic CVT system.
When will it come to India?
The updated Civic will go on sale in international markets starting January 2020. However, there is no word on the availability of the facelifted model in India. Meanwhile, the current-generation Honda Civic is available in the country at a starting price of Rs. 17.93 lakh.
