2020 Honda City to debut in India next month
Japanese automaker Honda is all set to showcase the fifth-generation model of its popular sedan, the City, in India on March 16. The updated variant, which made its global debut last year, comes with several design and feature updates. It also offers emission-friendly BS6-compliant engine. The 2020 City is likely to hit the showrooms in April this year. Here's our roundup.
A look at the 2020 Honda City
The 2020 Honda City comes with a similar sporty look as the outgoing model, but with a bunch of cosmetic tweaks. The new model sports redesigned bumpers, sharper-looking body lines, and murdered-out indicator-mounted ORVMs. The car also gets new LED headlights with DRLs and restyled LED taillamps. Moreover, dimensions-wise, the new sedan is longer and wider than the outgoing variant.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the India-specific Honda City will offer a five-seater luxurious cabin featuring a sunroof, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, and a multifunctional steering wheel. The sedan will get a bigger 8-inch infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Besides that, it will offer driver and passenger airbags, a reverse parking camera with sensors, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Power and performance
In India, the 2020 Honda City will be launched with BS6-compliant 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines mated to a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The petrol unit churns out 119PS of power and 145Nm of peak torque, while the diesel mill is likely to produce 100PS and 200Nm. Apart from the aforementioned engines, the company may introduce a hybrid variant as well.
And, how much will it cost?
Honda will reveal the official details of the fifth-generation City at a later stage. However, looking at the updates, we expect the new car to carry a significant premium over the outgoing model, which falls under Rs. 9.91-14.31 lakh bracket.
