Force Motors is all set to launch the 2020 edition of its iconic off-roader, the Gurkha, in India in June, according to Autocar. The SUV, that made its India debut at the 2020 Auto Expo, comes with a host of design updates, a revamped cabin, and a BS6-compliant diesel engine. Here's our roundup.
2020 Force Gurkha: At a glance
The 2020 Gurkha looks quite similar to its BS4 counterpart but sits on an all-new ladder-frame chassis. The car gets a boxy stance, a sturdy build quality and rounded headlamps with mounted LED DRLs. The SUV sports a front fender-mounted snorkel and runs on 16-inch alloy wheels. Further, it gets rugged tires and a decent ground clearance that makes it suitable for rough terrains.
The off-roader gets an all-new cabin
The 2020 Force Gurkha gets an all-new six-seater cabin with circular AC vents, power windows, fabric upholstery, and a power steering wheel. Apart from that, the company has also introduced a touchscreen infotainment unit - a first for the SUV. As part of the standard safety kit, it offers dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and engine immobilizer for anti-theft provisions.
Power and performance
The 2020 Force Gurkha draws power from a 2.6-liter diesel engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The motor is capable of producing 90hp of maximum power and 280Nm of peak torque.
And, what about pricing and availability?
Force Motors will announce the pricing and availability details of the 2020 Gurkha at its launch event which is slated to happen in June. However, looking at the upgrades, the off-roader would carry a significant premium over the outgoing model that starts at Rs. 9.75 lakh. Once launched, it will compete against Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
