Skoda Auto India Pvt. Ltd. has launched the 2019 Octavia Onyx sedan in India at a starting price of Rs. 19.99 lakh. The new car arrives as a sportier version of the popular sedan and happens to be the most affordable automatic variant from the Octavia line-up. 2019 Skoda Octavia Onyx: At a glance
The 2019 Skoda Octavia Onyx looks largely similar to the standard Octavia with a cascading grille, sleek headlamps, and body-colored door handles. However, thanks to the 16-inch glossy black alloy wheels as well as blacked-out treatment on ORVMs, B-pillars, and rear spoiler, it looks sportier than the standard variant. The sedan also gets an all-LED lighting setup for headlamps, DRLs, and taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the 2019 Octavia Onyx gets a five-seater blacked-out cabin featuring leather upholstery and 12-way electrically-adjustable driver and front passenger seats. The car also gets a new SuperSport flat-bottom multifunctional steering wheel and dual-zone climate control. As for electronic features, it houses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Power and performance
The 2019 Skoda Octavia Onyx is available in two engine options: a 1.8-liter TSI petrol and a 2.0-liter TDI diesel. The former unit is capable of producing 180PS of power and 250Nm of peak torque, while the latter churns 143PS and 320Nm. For transmission duties, the petrol engine houses a 7-speed DSG (direct-shift gearbox) and the diesel mill gets a 6-speed DSG.
Here's a look at the safety features
The 2019 Octavia Onyx comes equipped with disc brakes on all the wheels along with ABS, EBD, and ESC (electronic stability control) for better road handling. The car offers six airbags and an Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) system for headlamps. Moreover, it gets a rearview camera as well as front and rear sensors for parking assistance.
