2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift launched, starts at Rs. 1.23 crore
BMW has launched the 2019 BMW 7 Series in India at a starting price of Rs. 1.23 crore (ex-showroom). The luxury sedan is available in four engine options: two petrol-powered units, one diesel-based mill, and a petrol hybrid engine. To recall, the all-new model had debuted globally in January 2019. BMW 7 Series: At a glance
Up front, the BMW 7 Series gets a revamped front look with a single-piece kidney grille which is the biggest on any BMW model, while on the rear it gets redesigned bumpers, dual exhausts, and a chrome strip connecting the exhausts. The luxury sedan gets an all-LED setup for lighting as standard along with optional laser light headlamps.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the BMW 7 Series comes with electrically adjustable seats wrapped in Nappa leather and a multifunctional power steering wheel. The cabin gets a 12.3-inch BMW's live cockpit instrument panel along with a 10.25-inch infotainment system and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system. For extra luxury and comfort, it gets a panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, and massage function.
Power and performance
The BMW 7 Series is available in two petrol-powered engines, one diesel-based mill, and a hybrid unit. The 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine makes 340hp power, while the 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel unit churns out 265hp. There is also a 6.6-liter turbocharged petrol mill that makes 585hp power and a gigantic 850Nm peak torque. Moreover, all the above engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
What about the hybrid unit?
Notably, BMW 7 Series is also available with a plug-in hybrid engine option wherein the 3.0-liter petrol engine is combined with batteries to generate 394hp of total power and 600Nm of peak torque. This unit promises a range of 58km and a top speed of 140kmph when riding on the fully-electric mode. Meanwhile, the batteries can get fueled up in 8 to 12 hours.
BMW 7 Series: On the road
For braking duties, the BMW 7 Series comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels along with ABS, EBD, and traction control. The sedan gets a bunch of driver-assist features including reverse parking assistance, tire pressure monitoring system, remote-controlled parking assist, and lane-keeping assistant to avoid collision during congested routes.
Finally, what's the pocket pinch?
The BMW 7 Series is priced at Rs. 1.22 crore for its base-end model and goes upto Rs. 2.43 crore for the top-end variant, (all prices, ex-showroom). At this price point, it goes up against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz S class and Lexus LS500h.
